Firefox did offer to update me to 60.0.2 earlier, which caused the issues precipitating this post. So, did I not get asked for Admin PW because I've updated as the installing user, or because nothing really got updated? And what happened to 60.0.2? The Firefox download site still downloads 60.0.1, but Firefox - Notes (60.0.2) - Mozilla indicates that 60.0.2 is available. However, the settings show I am still running 60.0.1 and furthermore it says I am "up to date". I did that, and it DID NOT ask for an Admin password. More confusing: When I went to 'About' it did say there was an update available and to restart Firefox to install. How did it remember these? There must have been some vestige of Firefox still out there somewhere. Minorly confusing bit: After launching the newly installed Firefox, my home page setting was still there as well as my uBlock add-on. After installation I deleted the dmg file and 'Ejected' again. So, I deleted the icon, redownloaded the previous Firefox 60.0.1 dmg and reinstalled as the current user. After clicking the 'Eject' for firefox, and making sure there was no dmg file either on the drive or in the trash, the Dock icon still persisted, but clicking it launched nothing. Even though I deleted /Applications/Firefox, emptied the Trash and searched the drive for anything named firefox, the Dock icon still persisted and clicking it launched Firefox. The trick to uninstalling may have been the 'Eject' button.
